Hot Stove, Cool Music Presents
Spookie Daly Pride and deSoL Sponsored by Ipswitch Inc.
Special Concert at the Paradise on Saturday, January 5 to
Benefit the
Foundation to Be Named Later
BOSTON (December 4, 2007) – Organizers of
the Hot Stove, Cool Music concert series today announced a special Saturday
night concert featuring soulful, hip hop-infused rockers Spookie Daly
Pride and Latin rockers deSoL. The event will take
place on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 9 p.m. at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston.
The concert is a preview of the thriving Hot Stove,
Cool Music winter event, which raises money for Theo and Paul Epstein’s
Foundation to Be Named Later, a branch of the Red Sox Foundation.
To date, the Hot Stove, Cool Music concert series has raised more
than $1,300,000. Red Sox Executive Vice President/General Manager Theo
Epstein and ESPN Commentator Peter Gammons will
make an appearance at the charity concert.
Tickets for the 18-and-over show are $15 and can be purchased beginning
Thursday, December 6 by calling (800) 594–TIXX or visiting
HotStoveCoolMusic.org. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the concert begins
at 9 p.m.
“In seven short years, Hot Stove, Cool Music has become a
staple among the Boston Music and Baseball scene,” said event
co-organizer Gammons. “This charity concert featuring performers
Spookie Daly Pride and deSoL gives fans a chance to enjoy a night
of music and baseball fun while raising money for a great cause.”
Spookie Daly Pride is a four-piece band from Boston that delivers
high energy, joyful hip hop-infused roots rock, with deep soulful
grooves and catchy, hook-filled songs. For the past three years,
the band has blown the roof off venues nationwide in support of its
first full-length album, Marshmallow Pie. To date, Spookie
Daly Pride has opened for America’s premier musical acts including
Foo Fighters, Bela Fleck and The Flecktones, and Kid Rock.
deSoL is an Asbury, NJ-based band that combines rock hooks with
Latin rhythms resulting in a resounding, fiery sound. The band released
its first single, “Karma,” in 2005 and saw that song
become a Top 5 hit on the Triple A radio format. deSoL, which has
shared marquees with R.E.M., The Legendary Wailers and Los Lonely
Boys, released its latest album on August 7, On My Way,
to critical acclaim.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Foundation to Be Named
Later. This winter’s Hot Stove, Cool Music concert is sponsored
by Ipswitch Inc. and the Improper Bostonian.

About The Foundation to Be Named Later
The Foundation to Be Named Later
(FTBNL) was launched in spring of 2005 by Paul Epstein, a social
worker in the Brookline Public School system, and his brother,
Red Sox Executive Vice President and General Manager Theo Epstein,
with the mission of raising funds and awareness for non-profit
agencies in the Greater Boston area serving disadvantaged youth.
The chief fundraiser for the FTBNL is the Hot Stove, Cool Music
Concert Series. In July 2005, the FTBNL benefited from the inaugural
summer concert, Hot Stove, Cool Music: The Fenway Park Sessions.
In October of 2005, FTBNL distributed its first round of gifts to
eight non-profit agencies chosen for their outstanding work with
youth. The principal beneficiaries of the FTBNL are: BELL (Building
Educated Leaders for Life), The Home for Little Wanderers, Horizons
for Homeless Children, Molo Care, Roxbury Youthworks, Steps to Success,
City Year Boston and West End House Boys and Girls Club.
